Brooke and Preston: A Salt Lake City Anytime Session

October 28th, 2010

The clouds rolled in, the sky roared, the sprinkling began early in the day and promised to worsen as the day went on. The weather lady confirmed my doubt, so I made plans to cancel the shoot. Out in the distance I saw a very small patch of blue, but it wasn’t enough to instill confidence. I knew we would have to reschedule. The universe kept giving me signs that confirmed the gut feeling; I settled into this. Slowly, the blue patch grew larger and larger. And the sprinkling stopped. It had taken me all morning to get out of “photo shoot mode”, it took the drive down to the location to get back in. When I got there I wasn’t so sure I was ready, and I worried that the spontaneity was going to work against me, that I would do Brooke and Preston a disservice. That because the day wasn’t going according to plan I wasn’t going to perform as well as I hoped I would. For me. For them. I sat and waited for them to arrive, I held my camera to get used to the weight of it again. It had been a while. The day was gloomy and chilly, but the light was gorgeous. I had that on my side. I had that and my camera. I let the confidence creep in a little bit.

It stayed dry for the entirety of our shoot. As soon as I hit the freeway to come home the downpour started up again. It cleared up just for us. I have no explanation for it.

Brooke and Preston, it was seriously a pleasure to meet you! Ya’ll are a beautiful couple and on that gloomy day, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple. Seriously. Thanks for being so great, for rolling with the punches, and especially for trusting me! You’re the best! <3

They met when a friend introduced them to each other. Almost two years ago… Not only did they compliment each other so well, but they were super fun to be with. I could have spent more than a couple of hours with them, for reals! They even laughed at some of my jokes! :D

Brooke, you are simply stunning! And that light! So beautiful.

Me: Brooke and Preston, go stand by that wall.

Brooke and Preston: *walk over, stand…*

*snap*

They were that good.

This may be one of my favorite photos of the bunch. Maybe.

rawr.

I love this photo for so many reasons. I love her eyes, I love how relaxed her lips are, that she’s not trying so hard. But most of all, I love her hand and how graceful it is.

Suspenders? Yes, please! But seriously, how cute are they! :D

I had a really hard time choosing photos for this post, so I left most of them on the slideshow so I wouldn’t have to. :D Also, did you notice I have a comments section now?
