Summer reading list 2012
May 17th, 2012
Well hello!
Has it really been over a month since I’ve opened my laptop?? What have you been up to, Internet? I feel like I’ve turned into that friend that forgets to call. Sorry! And going along with that same pattern, I will now promise to call more often, hand to heaven. I really have missed you.
The current thing on my brain right now is books! I just finished the Fifty Shades series… and I can I just say, what a giant let down. If you’re a book snob please don’t bother, if you’re looking for something to preoccupy your time go for it, but if you’re a prude RUNAWAY! I’d say this book is definitely Rated R for Adult Language, Sexual Content, and Holy Crap, did he really just say that?!? It’s no literary masterpiece, it’s super annoying at times, very repetitive with an undercurrent of ‘man, I wish I were a gazillionaire’, morbid fascination. I give this book a solid ‘Meh’. But to be honest I enjoyed READING the book, if that makes any sense, for the sole purpose of reading. It was a very fast, easy read.
My summer reading list looks something like this:
All borrowed except for the top two. I’m starting Moloka’i today. :) Have you read it?
So tell me, what’s on your summer reading list?

Reading must be my favorite thing ever. I’m challenging myself to read over 60 books this year, so I feel like there will be plenty of reading this summer. I’m currently finishing the Bridei Chronicles, a fantasy trilogy inspired by the real story of King Bridei of the Picts. I’d add it to your “Meh” category, but I love the author, Juliet Marillier, and her Sevenwaters trilogy deserves all the credit that Bridei lacks. Other than that, I have Isabel Allende’s Island Beneath the Sea planned to be read next for my book club! I never read anything by her, but she is a famous fantasy writer from South America. And there’s also a pile of comic books by my bedside table that will get their attention this summer, including Lost at Sea from Brian O’Maley (Scott Pilgrim writer) and The Wizard of Oz. Can’t wait :)
